Teinalken are a tropical climate creature, prefering rainforest homes and habitats. They are omnivorous, leaning more towards hunting small mammals and birds, as well as feating on the tropical fruit and plantlife, which is also said to extend longevity in the species. This species is sentient, and also has the ability to absorb any language they come into contact with.
Traits
This species displays the traits of a rather unlikely set of Terran animals - parrot and cougar - as well as animals not found on that world, the alicorn and the dragon. Due to the coloration which is so flagrant in tropical birds, teinalken camoflauge is to be brightly colored, though the appearance of patterning on the coat is rare and considered a mutation.
Growth & Maturity
Due to the influx of the draconic nature, teinalken females will lay a single, rather brightly-colored egg sometime after mating. The egg hatches only one foal normally, though there has been a case of twins recorded at some time. Teinalken grow rather quickly, which also is though to be due to their diet.
Mating & Vyrites
Teinalken always form vyrites. Vyrite is the term for a sort of mating group. It is the male that always heads one, and there can be a maximum of two stallions per vyrite. More commonly, there is only one. Any number of females can be present in a vyrite. Even single pairs of mates form vyrites out of tradition. Each group also has a name, which is chosen by the male.
